If you are making your summer traveling plans and want to do something that will change your families’ life forever, consider a humanitarian trip to Haiti with Zion’s Children of Haiti!
Zion’s Children of Haiti is an incredible non-profit that works to give Haitian children access to a better life through education. In Haiti, fewer than 30% of children reach 6th grade! Zion’s Children of Haiti wants to change that. Their roots are in Gonaïves, Haiti and they are working daily to provide education and hot meals to the children they sponsor.
My husband, Mike, served a mission in Haiti from 1995-1997 and has be entwined and in love with the country every since, keeping ties strong with almost annual trips to the small and impoverished island. After the earthquake, Haiti’s plight took center stage and while some progress has been made, Haiti is still the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Mike has been a volunteer with Zion’s Children of Haiti for the past 3 years and is excited about the small difference they are making in the country.
Now, here is how YOU can help! Zion’s Children of Haiti sponsors a summer camp while the children are out of school. This gives them a safe place to be, two hot meals each day, and allows them to try arts, crafts, music, sports and computers. If you would like to be part of the group going down this summer from July 13-20 to help with the summer camp, please contact [email protected]. I promise it will be an experience you will never forget (plus there will be some time to enjoy the tropical island too!)
If you can’t make it to Haiti, donations toward the summer camp are always appreciated and used wisely!

Thanks for the info Brooke! I'm slowly gathering a list of legitimate good organizations to go through for humanitarian aid as that is my dream in life (once the kiddos are a little older). I like how this one is short term though and seems affordable. Have you ever gone with Mike?
Hey Samantha! Being a nurse you are always needed…so cool. I have not gone with Mike, but I would love to in the near future. He will be taking our boys with him when they turn 12. It will be awesome when our whole family can go!
