Heat Resistant Porch Decor

My front porch gets SO HOT in the summer that it kills every flower by the middle of July. So I was thrilled to see @stonebrook home share really darling faux options that work for those super hot front porches. I copied pretty much everything she shared, but you can pick and choose. (Even if your porch isn’t hot, I still LOVE these classic options!)

Set of 3 Planters

These planters are gorgeous, high quality and so affordable. I went with the “weathered concrete” color which is a little warmer and looks perfect on our porch but they come in all kinds of color options. Such a great price for three!

Topiary Trees

These are a total win and look great all year long.

Realistic Bushes

These are probably the most realistic looking…like you would never know they aren’t real! Love them.

Add a Little Flower

These are probably the least realistic, but still so great to add a little floral pop on the porch! Faux flowers have come a long way!

Lanterns

Does faux porch decor look fake from the street?

Not if you choose carefully. The realistic bushes are the standout — you genuinely would not know they are not real. The topiaries hold up well too. The faux flowers are the least convincing of the group, which is why I use them for a pop of color rather than as the main event. From sidewalk distance the whole arrangement reads as a well-kept porch.

How long does it hold up in direct sun?

Mine has been out since the beginning of April and still looks the way it did on day one, on a porch hot enough to kill real flowers by mid-July. That is the whole reason I switched. Fading over multiple seasons is the thing to watch with any faux outdoor item, so darker and more neutral pieces tend to age better than bright ones.

Do I need to buy the whole set?

No — pick and choose. If you are only buying one thing, make it the planters with the topiary trees, since that combination does the most visual work. The rug is the next biggest change for the money. The lanterns and faux flowers are finishing touches you can add later.

Is heat resistant porch decor worth it if my porch is shaded?

I would still do it, and I said so in the original post. The look is classic regardless of how much sun you get, and the appeal of never watering or replacing anything holds whether or not your porch is an oven. The heat is what forced my hand; the low maintenance is why I would not go back.
